Dear Researchers,
The European Research Council (ERC) 2027 Consolidator Grant (CoG) call is now open for applications with a deadline of January 12, 2027.
The ERC Consolidator Grant aims to support ambitious, ground-breaking research projects proposed by researchers who have established their scientific independence, have creative and original research ideas, and are at the stage of consolidating their independent research programme.
Who can apply?
With the 2027 Work Programme, the eligibility window for the ERC Consolidator Grant has been extended.
Researchers who defended their PhD between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2021 are eligible to apply.
The eligibility period may be extended in accordance with the relevant ERC rules in duly documented circumstances. For further details on eligibility extensions, the official work programme should be consulted.
Budget and funding opportunities
Standard project funding for up to five years
Duly justified additional eligible costs
Maximum additional start-up support for relocation from third countries
Successful ERC-CoG projects may receive funding of up to €2 million for a period of five years. An additional €1 million may be requested where duly justified.
Furthermore, researchers currently based in third countries (e.g. the United States, Canada, or Japan) who plan to relocate to an EU Member State or an Associated Country, such as Türkiye, to carry out their ERC project may request up to €2 million in additional start-up funding.
Within the scope of the mERCury project, in which TÜBİTAK is one of the partners, an online event entitled “Towards an ERC Consolidator Grant: From Promising Idea to Competitive Proposal” will be organized for the ERC Consolidator Grant programme.
Proposal preparation support
Researchers preparing an ERC Consolidator Grant proposal are encouraged to contact the Research Coordination Office – Project Development Office to benefit from proposal pre-evaluation services and other application support.
Academics who wish to attract outstanding researchers to our University may proactively reach out to potential candidates abroad and encourage them to consider METU as their host institution for an ERC Consolidator Grant application.
