National Polar Science Program and Workshops
Within the scope of the Antarctic Scientific Research and Research Station Project, carried out under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye and under the responsibility of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the National Polar Science Program was published and entered into force in December 2017.
Within the framework of the program, the “National Polar Science Workshop” is organized every year to evaluate scientific projects and studies conducted by Turkish scientists in polar research, to assess the outcomes of scientific expeditions, and to discuss developments in priority areas.
Accordingly, the First and Second National Polar Science Workshops were hosted by Istanbul Technical University on 12–13 April 2017 and 12–13 September 2018, respectively.

The Third National Polar Science Workshop was hosted by Middle East Technical University (METU) on 5–6 September 2019.
- It was organized free of charge and open to the participation of all scientists who wished to take part in national polar research.
- A total of 203 participants from 64 institutions attended the workshop.
