National Polar Sciences Program
Antarctica Scientific Research and Science Base Project
Within the scope of the project carried out under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye and under the responsibility of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the National Polar Science Program was published and entered into force in December 2017.
Within the scope of the program, the "National Polar Sciences Workshop" is organized annually to evaluate the results of scientific projects, studies, and scientific expeditions conducted by Turkish scientists in the polar field, and to discuss developments in priority areas.
In this direction, the First and Second National Polar Sciences Workshops were hosted by Istanbul Technical University on April 12-13, 2017, and September 12-13, 2018.
Hosted by METU (2019)
The Third National Polar Sciences Workshop was hosted by Middle East Technical University (METU) on September 5-6, 2019.
- It was organized free of charge and open to the participation of all scientists wishing to take part in national polar research.
- A total of 203 people from 64 institutions participated in the workshop.
