Research activities at METU consist of complementary tasks such as developing research policies, providing project support, carrying out financial and administrative processes, developing university-industry collaborations, conducting international partnerships, and coordinating research infrastructures.
These tasks are carried out through cooperation and coordination among specialized units. The organizational structure and unit descriptions below have been prepared to help researchers identify the right unit for the service they need.

COORDINATION FOCUS
Research Coordination Office
Supports the development and implementation of the university's research policies; ensures the overall coordination of research activities and cooperation among related units. It includes the Project Support Office, the Project Development Office, and the Centers Coordination Office.

FUNDING AND PROJECT SUPPORT
Project Support Office
Provides researchers with end-to-end support, from finding funding to project applications, execution, and reporting.

LARGE-SCALE PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
Project Development Office
Supports researchers in designing multidisciplinary, large-scale research projects.

CENTERS AND RESEARCH INFRASTRUCTURES
Centers Coordination Office
Manages the coordination of Application and Research Centers, follow-up of investment projects of the Presidency of Strategy and Budget, execution of the SAYP Program, and processes related to the LABS portal.

Academic Performance Evaluation
Carries out the annual evaluation of academic performance for faculty members holding positions at the university and for units/departments.

PROJECT PROCESSES
Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit
Manages the budget and personnel processes of research and development projects carried out at the university. Coordinates Scientific Research Projects supported by the university budget.

FINANCIAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSES
Office of Revolving Funds
Manages the processes related to project, consultancy, training, and testing services that university researchers carry out under the Revolving Fund. Project applications are evaluated by the relevant commission.

KNOWLEDGE AND TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER
Technology Transfer Office
Involved in developing university-industry collaborations and in the protection and commercialization of academic inventions. Supports the related processes from patent applications to company formation. Operates within ODTÜ Teknokent.

INTERNATIONAL PROJECT SUPPORT
Teknokent Project Management Office
Operates within the Technology Transfer Office. Supports researchers in internationally funded research and development projects, particularly European Union Framework Programs.
ICO
INTERNATIONAL COOPERATIONS
International Cooperations Office
Manages processes related to Erasmus+ and international exchange programs; supports researchers and students in benefiting from international mobility programs.
