About the Program

Project applications are now open under the Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS) Program, jointly implemented by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).

The SATREPS Program supports international joint research projects conducted by researchers from Japan and partner countries to address global challenges faced by developing countries.

Projects submitted under the program are required to be carried out in collaboration with a university or research institution based in Japan.

Important Criterion

A Research Partner in Japan Is Required

The application process should be carried out in coordination with the JICA Türkiye Office. Having an established collaboration with a university or research institute in Japan is an important criterion for applicants to the SATREPS Program.

Application Process

Preparation of the Application in Türkiye

The researcher or institution in Türkiye prepares the official SATREPS project application.

Submission Through Official Channels

The official application is submitted to the Presidency of Strategy and Budget and subsequently transmitted to the Embassy of Japan through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Application by the Japanese Partner Institution

The relevant university or research institute in Japan is also required to submit a more detailed application to JICA for the project.

Important Date for Our Researchers
4 September 2026

In accordance with the official letter conveyed to our University by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), application forms for eligible project proposals must be submitted to YÖK through the relevant official channels.

Accordingly, researchers planning to apply to the SATREPS Program are required to submit their application forms to the Research Coordination Office by 4 September 2026.
