Within our university, it has been decided that all documents related to faculty members taking positions in Technology Development Zones or R&D and Design Centers must be submitted via the Electronic Document Management System (EBYS) as of May 15, 2025. From the specified date onward, no physical documents will be accepted. The procedures and principles for using EBYS, as well as links to other relevant documents, are provided below.

Important Note: If the company to be worked in is located in another Technology Development Zone or R&D and Design Center, 25% of the net salary of the faculty member must be deposited to the METU Strategy Development Department. The relevant account information is provided below:

Implementation Principles for METU Faculty Members to Establish Companies in Technology Development Zones

  • The faculty member first contacts TEKNOKENT to submit a request for establishing a company or taking a position in an existing company.
  • Once the company establishment request is approved, the faculty member must prepare the following documents: 
    • Document from TEKNOKENT confirming the company establishment request is approved (board of directors’ decision, screenshot, or any other document indicating approval from TEKNOKENT)
    • Application and Evaluation Form for Faculty Members Taking Positions in Companies within Technology Development Zones at METU [can be downloaded here in Turkish]
    • Publication list for the last 5 years 
    • Faculty member request petition
  • All originals of these documents, along with a cover letter confirming the approval from the department/faculty/institute, must be submitted to our Coordination Office.
  • These submitted documents are presented to the University Executive Board.

Important Note: The title of “company partner” is granted only once, whereas other titles are renewed annually. Therefore, all documents must be submitted to us at least 2 weeks before the end date of the board decision.
